APMP Greater Houston Chapter Meeting, 6 August 2008
Wednesday, July 2, 2008
The APMP Greater Houston Chapter invites you to their next General Meeting to be held on Wednesday, 6 August 2008.
The topic is:
Crossing the Line: Ethics in Professional and Proposal Writing
Ethical communication is central to APMP’s mission. As proposal professionals, we often serve as the gatekeepers for clear and ethical communication. Please join us for this thought-provoking workshop with Dr. Ann Jennings, University of Houston – Downtown (UHD). Dr. Jennings will facilitate this workshop on how content and design of a document contribute to misleading messages. Based on UHD's Ethics faculty training workshop developed through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the workshop will use a casebook example of unethical communication and short writings on ethics to interpret the actions of the decision makers. Lastly, participants will look at how this applies to the world of proposal professionals.
Ann Jennings, PhD, is the Director of Professional Writing at the University of Houston-Downtown. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including instructional design, visual design theory, business and technical report writing, technical editing, and writing for the web. She is a consulting editor and has designed and led writing and presentation skills workshops for national and international companies. Today’s workshop is based on an ethics grant she received recently from the National Endowment for the Humanities. As a former stock broker and one-time subcontractor for Enron, she has tales to tell.
