What does being an APMP Fellow mean to you?
Being an APMP Fellow is an opportunity to celebrate our profession. It is the recognition of principles larger than any individual… of innovation, comradery, compassion, and purpose. It is the ability to show, by example to our young professionals and next-generation proposal managers, the opportunity for professional growth and recognition within our industry.
What's your best memory from attending an APMP event?
I don’t have a specific memory that ranks above all others. However, what always strikes me most – and is one of my favorite things about APMP events – is the conversation—having the ability to talk face-to-face with existing and new colleagues. I find this to be the true source of substance and often results in follow-up conversations post-event.
What advice do you have for a proposal professional entering our field?
Take the time to build a network of peers in the industry. Use that network to get outside of your current role and company. See what others are experiencing. The challenges they are solving, the innovations, and execution models they are developing. Bid & Proposal Management can vary extensively across different companies and cultures. Learn from it. Bring that learning into your own perspective and professional growth.
