Bio

Anita Wright is Manager of Business Development & Proposal Operations responsible for leadership on medium-to-large “must win” new government business acquisitions and major follow-on efforts for Northrop Grumman, a leading global space, aeronautics, defense, and cyberspace company providing innovative systems, products, and solutions to customers worldwide. In her role, she provides guidance and leadership to executives and critical team members from functional organizations throughout Northrop Grumman to coordinate and implement winning proposal processes for capture and strategic activities throughout the acquisition process.

Since 2008, Anita has been facilitating training for implementing the Business Acquisition Process at Northrop Grumman. She is a recipient of the President’s Leadership Award for Innovation and Affordability by Northrop Grumman. As a leader dedicated to excellence in proposal management, she served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP), contributed as an active board member of the APMP Western Chapter, and received recognition as an APMP Fellow.

Anita is a champion of diversity inclusion at Northrop Grumman by engaging with executive leadership, business development, and all functional organizations within Northrop Grumman to build a diverse workforce, inspire innovation, and grow the business. Her commitment to workforce engagement is highlighted by her leadership in the development and sustainment of diversity and inclusion in multiple domains. She received the prestigious Industry Corporate Responsibility Award at the Women of Color STEM Conference, and to recognize her passion for expanding opportunities for people with disabilities, she was inducted into the Susan M. Daniels Mentoring Hall of Fame.

What does being an APMP Fellow mean to you?

It is an honor to have received the recognition of APMP Fellow. I have always had an open mind to learn from others and I have applied my years of experience to build the capabilities of others in capture and proposal management.

What's your best memory from attending an APMP event?

After the pandemic, it was wonderful to reconnect with APMP colleagues! Not only do you learn from others, but you also are re-energized with innovative tools, resources, and techniques to win business.

What advice do you have for a proposal professional entering our field?

Get involved with an APMP chapter as an active member. Take advantage of all the APMP membership resources, education, and online training. Educate your company about the value of APMP and the APMP certifications that attest to your knowledge, skills, and contributions.

Receiving Practitioner-level certification boosted my confidence and validated my experiences and professional growth in the bid and proposal industry. The badge is something that I see each day, and it motivates and encourages me to keep networking, learning, and elevating others in our combined professional development goals.
